The Simon Hopper Band came into being when percussionist John Fisher (who sadly died in 2008) proposed that he and his then partner, Andee Price (double-bass & vocs) form a folk-based band with myself and my regular collaborator, guitarist and harmony singer, Leigh Trowridge, to feature my songs. That was in 2005. A Land for the Many [ALFTM] was the one cd to feature that line-up.

Much has happened since. The loss of John, the pragmatics of the live music world and the fact of a day-job demanding time and energy mean that the 'band' is as likely to be a duo or a trio - or even a solo act. Perhaps 'band' is no longer appropriate; 'collective', perhaps?

Andee and Leigh, are still important parts of the jig-saw and other musicians - Ramona Egle (she played fiddle, low-whistle and harp on The Less Blessed [TLB]) and Kevin Richards (percussion) play occasional roles in the ensemble.

While playing live is the main thing, recording is important, too, and since ALFTM, three further cds have been recorded; TLB, 2010's The Beautiful and Cruel [TBAC] which is now available and the more recent collection of 'as live' songs recorded by myself and Andee to capture the essence of the tour we carried out in the summer this year (2010). This cd is 'in production' and should be available soon (in the autumn of 2010).

Gigging opportunities ebb and flow; the time available for booking them being them being the biggest issue. You'll find gigs listed on the myspace site (see navigation bar above) although that site becomes aver more awkward to use - and the fact that it's part of Murdoch's evil empire means that, strictly speaking, I shouldn't be using it. (Don't let him kill the BBC! He will if he can and him and his cronies [Rebeccah Wade, for god's sake!] will fill the space with their bile and poison.) So perhaps I'll look for other ways of keeping you informed. See the links below, for example...

Keep listening!
